Anger and Guilt

Course Level:

Intermediate – assumes prior clinical experience working with adult clients.

Description

This 1-hour asynchronous continuing education course explores anger and guilt through the lens of emotion theory and clinical practice. The course helps clinicians distinguish between the affective signals of anger, guilt, shame, and remorse, and examines how these emotions function within power dynamics, decision-making domains, and nonverbal communication.

Drawing from cognitive science and interpersonal communication research, Dr. Valery Fradkov presents emotions not merely as reactions, but as purposeful communicative signals reflecting internal evaluations of power, strength, responsibility, and perceived threat.

Through structured video instruction, clinical examples, and applied discussion, participants learn to identify the communicative intent behind emotional expressions and apply this understanding in therapeutic settings.

Practical implications for psychotherapy, emotion regulation, and clinical decision-making are emphasized, supporting clinicians in helping clients differentiate between genuine emotional states and develop more adaptive behavioral patterns.
